Storing Your Cane
Rattan keeps its natural flexibility best when it's not left in direct sunlight or extreme heat. Store your cane flat or hanging, in a cool, dry place, and avoid leaning it against radiators or leaving it in a hot car. Rattan loves consistent, moderate humidity; an overly dry environment can make it brittle over time.
Cleaning & Conditioning
Because your cane is finished with boiled linseed oil to seal and protect the rattan skin, it's very easy to keep clean. A soft, slightly damp cloth is all that's needed for routine cleaning. From time to time you may wish to re-condition the rattan with a light application of boiled linseed oil to maintain flexibility and a healthy look. Always wipe away any excess oil and allow the cane to dry fully before storing.
Caution: Only use oils in a well-ventilated area and keep cotton-based rags away from open flame — oil-soaked rags can be a fire hazard.
Our Craftsmanship
Each cane is constructed of premium-grade Indonesian Kooboo rattan. The diameter is carefully selected for each cane's intended length, sharp edges are removed, and every piece is finished with boiled linseed oil. We leave the rattan skin (bark) on to preserve its natural character. If you'd like a cane made to your own specifications, let us know — we're happy to take custom orders.
Beyond the Cane
The collectors who buy from this shop are often into other fine, hand-finished pieces as well — the overlap is real, and I'm regularly asked where to start outside the cane world. My usual answer for anyone curious about timepieces is to look through the rolex Super Clone section at Clonewatches; the build quality and the way the pieces are documented are well above what you normally find in that part of the market.
